Walter P. VanCura, PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy, Clinic Owner
Dr. VanCura worked in the engineering and aerospace industries until his interest in human physiology and body systems, coupled with a desire to help people, prompted him to enroll at Stony Brook University to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. At Stony Brook University he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy and later furthered his studies at Utica College receiving a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
Dr. VanCura began treating patients at St. Charles Hospital, where he remained until 2000. He then moved into private practice, seeing pediatric patients in their home environment and treating patients of all ages at his clinic in Coram, NY. By 2002, his practice had grown to such an extent that he opened Wading River Physical Therapy, P.C. where he continues in the pursuit of excellence of care and personalized attention that has formed his exceptional reputation among orthopedists and patients alike.
Treating patients in Eastern Suffolk County for 20 years now, Dr. VanCura has extensive experience in the rehabilitation of sports related injuries, post orthopedic surgery and many neurological conditions. He continues to stay abreast of new methods in his field and stays up-to-date with the current body of knowledge through continuing education course work.
Jennifer Centrone, PTA
Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant, Clinical Coordinator
Jennifer obtained her Associates Degree in Applied Science from Suffolk County Community College’s PTA program in June of 2000.
Since graduating, Jennifer has had the opportunity to work in several different environments including homecare therapy, inpatient therapy and she has over 16 years of orthopedic experience in an outpatient setting. She has treated a variety of patients of all ages, including those with sports related injuries, post-operative and neurological conditions.
Jennifer has compassion for her patients and enjoys the rewards of helping people recover. It is a top priority for her to stay current with new techniques in treating orthopedic injuries and learning new manual therapy techniques. She has worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Wading River Physical Therapy, P.C. for over 13 years.
Christine Conti, PTA
Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant
Christine started her career in health care as a certified nursing assistant and her love for helping others led her to pursue a career in Physical Therapy as a Physical Therapy Assistant. She received her Associate Degree in Applied Science from Suffolk County Community College.
Christine has over ten years of experience in an orthopedic outpatient setting. Her prior work experiences and clinical affiliations have provided her with vital skills and a strong background in this challenging field.
Christine enjoys working with a variety of patients to help them achieve their goals. She continuously strives to stay current with new technologies and techniques by attending various courses within the field, in order to provide the best possible care. Christine has worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Wading River Physical Therapy, P.C. since 2014.
Marileni Brisita, PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Brisita completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2016 from Stony Brook University. Prior to enrolling in the physical therapy program at Stony Brook, Dr. Brisita received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science from Queens College. Dr. Brisita brings a variety of experience including pediatrics, acute care, and outpatient orthopedics. Additionally, she has worked with athletes and enjoys playing softball in her downtime. Dr. Brisita joined our staff at Wading River Physical Therapy, P.C. full time in early 2017. Dr. Brisita is fluent in Spanish.
Cathy obtained her Associates Degree in Business from Suffolk County Community College. Her administrative experience began at a special education preschool as a front desk receptionist. Her love for the field drove her to work 15 years while advancing through several job positions before finally becoming the Intake Coordinator in the school’s diagnostic clinic. She later returned to college to earn her Paralegal Degree and worked in the field of law for 5 years. Missing the healthcare field, Cathy returned to a clinical environment as the Office Manager with Wading River Physical Therapy, P.C. where she has worked for 15 years.
Cathy has enjoyed several opportunities to perform volunteer work in hospital emergency rooms and as a Certified EMT for Brentwood Legion Ambulance Corp.
